Dr Gary Pflugrath (PhD, MBA, B.Bus, FCPA) is Executive General
Manager Policy and Advocacy at CPA Australia with more than 38
years' experience in the accountancy profession, across senior
public policy, advocacy, academic research, internal audit,
financial reporting, and governance and administration roles.
Prior to joining CPA Australia, Gary was the Senior Director,
Public Policy and Governance at the International Federation of
Accountants (IFAC), in New York. He has also previously worked at
the University of New South Wales and the Reserve Bank of
Australia.
In his role as Executive General Manager Policy and Advocacy,
Gary is responsible for the representation and advocacy work on
behalf of the accountancy profession in Australia and international
markets. This includes areas such as; auditing and assurance,
financial reporting, ethics, professional standards, taxation,
retirement savings, sustainability and corporate governance.
Gary holds a PhD from the University of New South Wales and has
been published in several refereed accounting and ethics academic
journals, includingAuditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory,The
Journal of Business Ethics, andInternational Journal of
Auditing.
Gary is a Fellow of CPA Australia and has been a member for over
32 years.
